On May 8th, 2025, according to the latest data released by Clarivate Analytics in the Essential Science Indicators (ESI), the computer science discipline of our university has entered the top 1% globally for the first time. As a result, the number of disciplines of our university in the top 1% globally has reached 7, namely: Engineering, Geosciences, Materials Science, Environment/Ecology, Social Science General, Chemistry and Computer Science. Among them, the Engineering discipline has entered the top 1‰ globally; and three disciplines, namely Environment/Ecology, Materials Science and Geosciences, have entered the top 3‰ globally. This marks that the international influence and global competitiveness of our university in related disciplines are rapidly improving, and the overall discipline level of our university has significantly improved, achieving a leap in the construction of Double First-Class.
In recent years, the school has been focusing on tapping its internal potential and highlighting its unique features. It has continuously strengthened the construction of the internal content of the computer science discipline, actively conduct benchmarking analysis both domestically and internationally, and continuously enhanced the construction of disciplines, research platforms, and faculty teams. It has vigorously generated high-level academic achievements and established several research teams such as cross-modal fusion computing for the Internet of Vehicles, virtual-real integration testing for autonomous driving, image and video understanding and analysis, and data security and privacy protection. The research results have been published in top journals in the fields of computer science, artificial intelligence, and electronic communication, demonstrating the significant potential and role of the school in serving the country's major strategic needs. The discipline of computer science has entered the ESI global top 1%, which is another historic breakthrough achieved by the college after obtaining the first-level doctoral degree authorization in computer science and technology.
