The Department of Computer Science (CS) was established in 1993, deprived from the Computer Science and Technology program founded in 1987. The CS department prepares students for careers in computer science by offering BE/ME/Ph.D. degrees. The ME program consists of one first-level discipline in Computer Science and Technology and five secondary disciplines: including computer application technology, computer system structure, computer software & theory, transportation information engineering & control, intelligent transportation, and information system engineering. The Ph.D. program offers two secondary doctoral disciplines in traffic information engineering & control, intelligent transportation, and information system engineering. The CS department has 16 faculty members, including 4 full-time professors, 5 associate professors, and 7 lecturers.
the faculty
In the past three years, the department has undertaken more than 50 scientific research projects, including but not limited to the National 863 Program, the NSFC Program, and the National Science and Technology Construction Project in the West region. Our faculty members have won the second prize of “National Science and Technology Progress Award” once, twice in the first prize and thrice in the third prize of “Shaanxi provincial Science and Technology,” once in the first prize of “Shaanxi Transportation Science and Technology Progress Award,” 12 national patents, and 26 national software copyrights. Meanwhile, a number of achievements have been widely employed in the domestic transportation industry. Also, our faculty members have published more than 100 articles in national academic journals, such as Journal of Computer Science, Journal of Software, Journal of China Highway, and some on the well-noted international conferences.
The Department of Computer Science recruits 70 undergraduates and 50 postgraduate students (master's and doctoral included) each year. The undergraduate courses are designed for four disciplines: “WEB Engineering Course Group,” “Online Game Course Group,” “Embedded System Course Group,” and “Road Traffic Information Technology Course Group.” Graduate students have several research fields, such as “distributed network measurement & control technology,” “information storage technology,” “smart media technology,” “embedded technology,” “computer vision & graphic image processing,” “system simulation theory & application,” “traffic Information detection technology,” “modern transportation system modeling & simulation,” and “intelligent transportation system theory & application.”
